Wild Tour - 3 Hours | Into the Unknown
The Wild Tour takes you beyond the last lighted passage, deep into the unexplored heart of the Grand Canyon Caverns. Starting at the Mystery Room, where powerful air currents hint at hidden chambers, you’ll follow your guide into dark, winding passages few have ever entered. Equipped with helmet and headlamp, you’ll crawl, climb, and navigate rugged terrain in a true spelunking adventure.
On this tour, you’ll be among the first to experience areas where professional cavers continue their work — discovering rock-eating microorganisms in the cavern walls and excavating to trace the mysterious airflow that ‘breathes’ through the cave.
The Wild Tour is more physically demanding than the Explorer Tour and requires a high level of fitness. Participants must be able to crawl through tight passages, climb steep slopes, and navigate uneven terrain for several hours.
For your safety, sturdy full-length pants (jeans or cargo), a lightweight long-sleeved shirt, and lace-up, closed-toe shoes with good traction (boots or athletic shoes) are required. Please avoid shorts, heavy jackets, slip-ons, sandals, or footwear with openings.
Leading a Wild Tour is a demanding and highly specialized role requiring both technical skill and endurance. A 21% gratuity will be automatically added to your total. This amount goes directly to your guide in acknowledgment of their professionalism, dedication, and the extra effort required to ensure your safety and enjoyment.
The Wild Tour is offered once daily at 1:00 PM (check-in by 12:30). A minimum of two participants is required for this tour. Reservations recommended.
