Dear Friends of the Caverns,
It has been warm and dry lately, which is normal and usually precedes the monsoon season when we get 80% of our moisture for the year. Our monsoon season is a sprinkling of just enough afternoon thunder showers to cool things down, with plenty of sunshine in-between. There is something wonderful about the weather no matter what time of year you visit the caverns – but the warm, dry summers and the monsoons that follow are some of our favorite times. If they are yours, too, now is the perfect time to come visit.
Sincerely,
John McEnulty

WILD AND FREE |
Above the caves, the eastern area of our lands has been left preserved as open pasture, where wildlife can safely graze away from the highway. This year we have seen a big influx of wildlife on these lands. Just since May, we have been visited by Elk, Pronghorn Antelope, deer, coyotes, foxes, badgers, bobcat, and many species of birds. Come enjoy our very own version of East Africa! |

THE BUNKHOUSE |
We know we have talked about the remodeled Bunkhouse in the past few newsletters, but the reviews have been fantastic and we would really like to highlight that there is no better spot along RT66 for a large group to stay. This 3 bedroom, 3 bath private residence has a large living room, full kitchen, outdoor entertaining area, wifi, and can comfortably sleep 12. It has all the advantages of a large home. The Grand Canyon Caverns is proud of the work done by the renovation team…restorations like this are difficult and rare out here in the middle of nowhere!

MOTEL ROOMS UPDATES |
Our 48 fully restored motor inn rooms have never looked this great, not even in 1964 when they were built! And we continue to make improvements; right now in room #49 new windows are being testing that should completely eliminate outside noise from fellow travelers, help reduce energy costs year round, and provide guests with the perfect in-room temperature no matter what the outside weather is like. Along with a new cable TV system, enhanced bathroom features, and all the classic RT66 charm, the Grand Canyon Caverns motel is a great stop on your journey along RT66. |
