June 2017 Grand Canyon Caverns Newsletter

Dear Friends of the Caverns,

The incredible new Cavern Grotto Restaurant is under construction as we speak and will hopefully be finished in just a few weeks! Offering awesome views from a dining table right inside the caverns, it will be both romantic and adventurous. There will be two lunch and two dinner seatings. A prix fixe menu will include a three-course meal with drink (including beer and wine). With a ‘soft’ opening about June 20th and an official grand opening August 1st, reserve your table 200 feet below ground now!

The Rodeo Arena located at the Grand Canyon Caverns is getting a “make-over” thanks to our hardworking neighbors and horse enthusiasts! While the arena has never been out of action, it was starting to show some age after almost 60 years of events. The newly remodeled arena is scheduled for its first event the weekend of July 7th, 8th and 9th. This Rodeo event will be open to the public and should be a lot of fun!

On Father’s Day June 18th, several Car Clubs from Arizona and Nevada will cruise from Kingman, AZ to our new Antares Visitor Center, then continue to Hackberry General Store, and then on to the Grand Canyon Caverns for lunch, a Car Show, and the amazing Caverns Tour. This is the first in what promises to be a series of terrific Kingman & Caverns partnerships. We are just 63 miles apart on the best cruising road in America, Route 66!!!

Our Antares RT66 Visitor Center, which also features an Art Gallery and Gift Shop, has been chosen to display the Twin Arrows “miniature” that is part of a series of 135 Route 66 scale model locations made in Europe. We were shocked and thrilled by our good fortune to be chosen to host this fantastic piece of work. The scale model has arrived and is being fitted within a unique enclosure to enhance viewing and protect this treasure. Antares is at mile marker 75, 22 miles east of Kingman, AZ and has the greatest vista view anywhere on the Mother Road!
